BIOGRAPHY

KARLA HOUR

International Roots | Timeless Design

Experience:

Karla attended the renowned Ueda College of Fashion in Japan, where her fashions received the prestigious All-Japan Award for Best Upcoming Womens Fashion Designer. She then started working as a freelance fashion designer for major European and Asian fashion houses, including Christian Dior, Vidal Sassoon, Wacoal and Kansai Yamamoto.

When Karla moved to the U.S., she established and ran a successful wholesale and retail womens couture, sportswear and bridal clothing and accessories business, which sold in Nordstrom, Macys and many exclusive specialty boutiques. Fashion business leaders have held Karla as among the elite of fashion designers. The Apparel News called Karla One of the hottest new designers nationally and internationally a fashion talent to watch.

Aesthetic:

Karla has traveled widely in Europe, Asia and the U.S., and lived in several countries. As such, the fashions she creates are timeless and universal. Along with a vast background in fabric design, Karla utilizes her keen color palette sense, fearlessness in fabric usage, and diverse talents in pattern making, draping and fine tailoring in combination with her experience in manufacturing and marketing to develop cutting edge and trend setting fashions. While keeping the business side of fashion in mind, Karla designs styles that are very appealing and wearable for a wide spectrum of consumers.

Objective:

Three years ago Karla closed her wholesale and couture businesses to care for a terminally ill family member. But, once again she is focusing exclusively on pursuing her creative life in the realm of freelance design and creation of beautifully timeless fashions.
